My Sustainable Living Journey

About Me

Welcome to my personal journey towards sustainable living! My name is [Your Name], and I live in South Devon, UK, on a 3.5-acre plot where I strive to live sustainably. My approach is centred around permaculture principles, no-till farming, and creating a low-impact, self-sufficient lifestyle. Here, I share my personal and practical experiences in areas such as growing willow, building with cob, heating with compost, and practising agroecology. I hope this journey inspires others to embrace sustainable practices in their own lives.

Subjects I'm Passionate About

These are the key areas I focus on in my sustainable living journey. Click through to learn more about each subject and how it plays a role in my daily life.

Cob Building

I've been building a cob barn on my land to serve as a workshop and storage for my willow harvests. Cob is a natural and durable building material made from subsoil, water, fibrous organic material, and sometimes lime. It's been a rewarding experience combining traditional methods with modern sustainability.

Willow Propagation

My willow nursery is the heart of my land, where I grow sustainable crops using permaculture techniques. I also create compost from the waste willow, using a zero-carbon energy system to heat my propagation tunnels.

Compost Heating Systems

I use a compost heating system to warm my propagation tunnels. This system captures heat from composting organic matter, creating a self-sufficient, low-energy solution to keeping crops warm, even in colder months.

Agroecology

Agroecology is at the core of how I manage my land. By following nature's principles and creating closed-loop systems, I minimise waste, improve biodiversity, and enhance the health of my soil.
